11:38 am - Happy Founders' Day Sigma Psi Kappa

pez60
On November 8, 1992, the five founding sisters of Sigma Psi Kappa, gathered together with the goal of starting their own ideal sorority. They envisioned a family of women, strong independently but stronger united, who would strive together to attain excellence in every endeavor. Their main focus was on creating a sisterhood firmly rooted in Service, Scholarship and Strength. The motto became "Sisterhood by Friendship," and the colors, letters and by-laws were developed around this credo.

Since gaining recogniction into the Inter Fraternity Sorority Council at NJIT in 1993, Sigma Psi Kappa has become a strong organization on campus, known for sponsoring two blood drives per semester on campus, being involved in campus clubs and organizations, and being a fun group of girls. We have initiated over 70 members into the sorority and continue to grow strong!

Happy Founders' Day!!

Hey all,

I'm this upcoming year's Academic Director and I need help thinking of ways to motivate as well as keep the chapter GPA up. We give away gift cards to the highest GPA at the end of the semester , but I want to be able to monitor or promote studying during the semester. I don't want to wait till the end of the semester to find out someone was failing.  Also, academic workshops tend to get tedious and boring after a while. We are a small local sorority (14 active members). Any ideas are greatly appreciated!!!

*Greek love!*

9:19 pm - new member :)

Hi! I just stumbled upon this community from sororitygirl so I thought I would introduce myself :)

Name: Nicki
Sorority: Phi Rho Alpha
School: University of Michigan (Alpha Chapter)
Pledge Year: Founder (and co-president)
Class: Charter
City: Ann Arbor, MI
First charter: Conceived in May 2005...first initiates July 29, 2005

We just extended bids to our future Beta class today, 15 AWESOME girls! This brings our total membership to 30 sisters, in our first year of existence! We're beyond excited about our future at Michigan--a local sorority is something that the school has been missing for at least 20 years. We also cater more to girls with busy schedules who can't devote their lives to Panhel houses, and we don't come with stereotypes or biases often held by more established houses. Check out our website (linked above) to find out some more about us :)

On November 8, 1992, Elfie Almadin, Jeannie Lee, Chin Yu (Jenny) Lin, Rebeca Luengo, and Omnia Samra, the founding sisters of Sigma Psi Kappa, gathered together with the goal of starting their own ideal sorority. Their main focus was on creating a sisterhood firmly rooted in Service, Scholarship and Strength. Since that time Sigma Psi Kappa has become one of the strongest organizations on campus, known for sponsoring two blood drives per semester on campus and being a great group of women. We have had over 70 members initiated into the sorority over the last 13 years and will keep growing strong!

11:38 am - About Me And A Question...

fading_rubicon
Hey I thought I would drop a line and give some information about me and my chapter...

Name: Frances or "LiLith"
Sorority: Sigma Xi Delta Inc.
School: The College of Staten Island
Pledge Year: Founder
Class: Founder
City: Staten Island, New York
First charter: October 31, 2003

Also good news we crossed our Gamma class. 12 people. Problem is now I don't think all of them are taking it seriously. I know there are a few who are but most seem to be there for a jacket and the funny thing is they didn't even purchase letters yet... Trying to figure out what to do with them... Not sure anymore... I think they are going to become inactive until they learn how to be more of a whole like they were during their new member period... any idea's from anyone? I'm open for them...

Hello, all! I think this is only my second time posting. I'm Caroline, and next year I'll be the President of my small local sorority, Kappa Psi Delta at NYU. Next year we'll have about 15 members. My question (which I've cross-posted to a couple of other communities) is..

If you had to give me one piece of advice for my upcoming year as President, or there is one lesson you learned during your Presidency that you wanted to impart on me, what would it be?

Thanks, guys! You're such a great source of information.

I've finally scraped together the cash to buy a domain name for the Local Sororities website :) Its now located at http://www.localsororities.org I put the state directory back on the site as well. I'm in the process of getting all of the listings on it updated, so I would greatly appreciate it if you could take a look at the info listed for your local, and make sure its correct. If its not, please let me know, and I'll fix it ASAP.
Thanks!

11:48 pm - private question

shellarah
Hey girls! I have a confidential question to ask the members of the local sororities in the United States (as many as possible at least) so I figured the easiest way to do this, is to send out a mass email. If you are interested, could I please get your current email addresses and the name of the local in which you are a member please? Thanks in advance!

If you have any questions, you can email me at shellarah@yahoo.com

Thanks again!

11:35 am - Icon Help/ New Member Class

fading_rubicon
Does Anyone Know How To Make Custom Sorority or Fraternity Icons. I Would Need A Red Rose In The Background and Sigma Xi Delta in greek with the writing of Sigma Xi Delta spelt out in script under it. Can anyone help Me? The Writing would need to be a bold black over the red rose... If anyone has any suggestions or can help please let me know ASAP. Thanks so much.

Also our new member class turned out to be 8 people. 6 girls and 2 guys. We had 40 rushes and as usual a few disappear, a few really weren't intrested, a few were in other sororities and fraternities just trying to find out information but now the eight we have are doing a kick @$$ job and I am so happy with it being President and Pledge Mistress of Sigma Xi Delta. Anyone have any good idea's for a reward for the whole class? I mean so many times when they mess up they get demerits and such but no one has messed up, it's two weeks into it and there all getting along together and just doing so well... I mean I figure 5 will most likely make it to crossing ( a few have been having personal family issues) but I really would like to reward them) If you have any ideas leave me a comment please. Have a great day.
Love and Sig Xi's,
LiLith
